TAYLOR SWIFT MOVIE DEBUT "VALENTINES DAY"

Taylor made her acting debut in the ensemble movie "Valentines Day" back in February,  where she played a teenage girl madly in love with her boyfriend (played by Taylor Lautner-- her actual boyfriend at the time...awkward!). We thought Taylor did a decent job (although it's not like the role was a major
stretch), and we actually found ourselves laughing at some of her on-screen antics. Still, we would need to see her take on a role outside of her comfort zone before deciding whether she's got what it takes to be a movie star.

RIHANNA'S FIRST MOVIE "BATTLESHIP"

On Monday night, Variety announced that “Love The Way You Lie” hitmaker Rihanna has signed on to star in her first feature film. The beauty will star in Universal’s Battleship, inspired by the classic game of the same name.

The charttopping singer will appear alongside Alexander Skarsgard and Taylor Kitch in the feature based on the Hasbro board game that takes place in water, on land, and in the air. The film will be told from both sides of the battle — humans and aliens — as the alien ships lose their ability to fly once in earth’s atmosphere. Kitch will play a Naval officer who leads the battle, while Skarsgard has been cast as his brother.

Battleship will also star TV hunks Taylor Kitsch (“Friday Night Lights”) and Alexander Skarsgard (“True Blood”), claims Variety.com, and “takes place across the seas, the skies and over land in a battle for planet survival against a superior force.”

HAITI : Wyclef Jean for President

“He is a hero to a lot of people,” said Bendhjy Nazaire, 19, who immigrated to Somerville from Aux Cayes, Haiti, when he was 8 years old.
The Haitian-American musician admired in his homeland as a celebrity who never forgot his roots, appears to be contemplating a run for the Haitian presidency in the Nov. 28 elections. On Tuesday, as Haiti buzzed with speculation that Mr. Jean, 37, was poised to declare his candidacy, his family issued a statement that said: “At this time, Wyclef Jean has not announced his intent to run for Haitian president. If and when a decision is made, the media will be alerted immediately.” Presidential aspirants must register during the first week of August. President Rene Preval is ineligible to run for a third term.

Jean, 37, was born in Haiti, but has lived in America for most of his life. He returned to his homeland to aid relief efforts following a catastrophic earthquake that devastated Haiti in January, killing an estimated 230,000 people and leaving 1 million homeless.

STARCRAFT 2 : MIDNIGHT LAUNCHED DETECTED

Finally! Activision Blizzard officially announced the release date of Starcraft 2 and
is set to be released on July 27, 2010 (midnight).

Wings of Liberty is the first of the three chapters set to be released for StarCraft 2 and will focus on the Terran race in the main campaign. Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void will focus on the Zerg and Protoss races and will be released separately at a later time so that Blizzard can make more money. Wings of Liberty will also feature a full map-making and scripting tool set.

The original StarCraft was one the most balanced games of all time and is still widely popular today. If race balance was one of the reasons for the delayed launch of the sequel, then it will probably be worth it as it may make this game worth playing for the next 10 years as well.

One of the disappointing features, or lack thereof, is the removal of LAN support. This means no more hooking up with your buddies over your local area network like we used to. No more running 4 computers to a switch and playing the game for hours on end. You will now have to have an internet connection and use Blizzard’s Battle.net system to play with the guys who are in the same room with you. They are not the first game to do this but it is still disappointing nonetheless as “LAN Partiers” seem to be getting the short end of the stick with game developers efforts to combat piracy. You will now have to pray that Blizzard or your ISP don’t have any issues or your LAN party will be dead in the water.

FORD EXPLORER 2011 REVEAL

The all-new 2011 Ford Explorer has just been been shown in its production state. The new 2011 Ford Explorer won't be the body on from SUV it once was, but will still be able to tow up to 5000 pounds. We should be seeing the new Explorer in showrooms in fall of 2010.

This new Explorer will no longer be a body on frame SUV, but a unibody crossover SUV. This should improve fuel economy, as will the EcoBoost V6 motor. It should get 19 MPG City, 28 MPG Highway. Throughout its life, the Ford Explorer has promised to deliver versatility, a reasonable amount of comfort, affordability and, perhaps most importantly, more style than a station wagon or minivan. Seemingly, it succeeded. During much of the '90s, Ford was consistently selling more than 400,000 units a year.

As if part of a Greek tragedy, however, the Explorer became embroiled in controversy at the start of the new millennium. Models fitted with certain Firestone tires were found to have higher than average instances of tire failure and subsequent rollover crashes. Though the Ford SUV was largely exonerated in subsequent analysis, it never fully recovered in terms of sales or image, despite a ground-up redesign for 2002. From the informed consumer standpoint, however, this isn't a midsize SUV to ignore. New or used, the Explorer should be part of any serious SUV search.

By just about every measure, the current Ford Explorer is the best one yet. Compared to earlier models, it's quieter, more powerful, better-looking, better equipped and safer. As a midsize SUV built on an advanced ladder-frame chassis with an independent rear suspension, the four-door Explorer can seat up to seven people or carry a maximum of 85 cubic feet of cargo.

TRON: LEGACY MOVIE coming this December 2010

Tron: Legacy is an upcoming 2010 science fiction film. It is a sequel to the 1982 Academy Award nominated film Tron. Joseph Kosinski makes his feature film directorial debut with Tron: Legacy, while the previous film director,Steven Lisberger, returns as a producer. Jeff Bridges reprises his role as Kevin Flynn, and Bruce Boxleitner his roles as Alan Bradley and Tron, while Garrett Hedlund portrays Flynn's now-adult son, Sam. The other cast members include Olivia Wilde, Beau Garrett, Michael Sheen and John Hurt.At over twenty-eight years, this film marks the longest gap between a live-action film and its theatrical sequel in Hollywood history According to the teaser trailer shown at the 2008 and 2009 San Diego Comic-Con, the film will be presented in Digital 3D and IMAX 3D. On September 3, 2009, Walt Disney Pictures announced that Tron: Legacy will appear in theaters on December 17, 2010.

The original "Tron" established precedent in filmmaking -- especially in terms of computer-generated imagery -- that defines the industry to this day. But for the new Disney sequel "Tron: Legacy," director Joe Kosinski actually has someone else to thank: "Avatar" director James Cameron. At a San Diego Comic-Con panel Thursday, Kosinski shared that because of the amazing design work of the original film -- it had such imagination and introduced a world so vivid and vibrant -- that it was a challenge to create the next generation of that world and make it feel both photogenic and realistic. Cameron, through "Avatar," created the tools necessary to produce this film after such a long wait, the director said. The new "Tron Legacy" brings both Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner back from the 1982 original, while introducing a couple of newcomers to the story -- Garrett Hedlund and Olivia Wilde. The new film takes fans back into the world where Kevin Flynn was literally sucked in and trapped.  "Tron: Legacy" focuses on the story of Flynn's son, played by Hedlund, in his quest to locate his missing father. The story of the son's love, which drives him to seek out his long-lost father, was the touchstone used to ensnare fans once again. "Tron: Legacy" will continue to explore the dark side of technology in conjunction with its amazing advances. It was Kosinski's intent to look for a way to bring the audience deeper into the story, he said. Recent Oscar winner Jeff Bridges, however, admitted that after hearing for so many years that a sequel was happening, that he had kind of given up. Thus, it was a happy surprise to find out that it was finally coming to fruition. He said that it "ticked the kid in me to be sucked into the computer" again, and it was really exciting for him to be involved. Boxleitner, who would later go on to star in the popular genre series "Babylon 5," said he also was pleased to see the story come back as he was intrigued to find out what had happened to these characters. Though he was startled to discover that Alan Bradley would be such a lost soul. It might have been a long time between films, but original "Tron" director Steven Lisberger, said that he thought eh long absence had one unintended benefit: There was an incredible energy that had been building after 25 years that it created an irresistible cyclone of anticipation that will such in an audience -- almost the same way that Kevin Flynn was.

UFO in Ancient History

George Bernard Shaw once famously quipped, “We learn from history that we learn nothing from history”. This quote is fitting to this piece of evidence that suggests the UFO phenomenon has been around as long as human civilization has existed and yet it is consistently dismissed. Today many UFO sightings are often explained away as being the US military testing some new technological weapon or plane, but this explanation cannot be used in a time when human flight was impossible. The painting above is titled “The Madonna with Saint Giovannino” and dates back to around the 15th century. The painting depicts the Virgin Mary in the foreground, and in the background is what appears to be a man looking up in awe at an object that is strikingly similar to our modern day perception of a UFO. This is not the only example of UFOs in ancient art. There are literally hundreds of examples of objects in the sky in many paintings spanning across the centuries. Strangely, the majority of the paintings depict UFOS in connection with a spiritual figure or experience. This could be how the people of the period interpreted the things they were seeing or perhaps there is a literal connection between the spiritual and UFOs. Erich von Däniken, author of the famous and controversial Chariots of The Gods, suggests that our gods and angles maybe intelligent aliens. In the Old Testament, The Book of Ezekiel discusses an encounter with a strange flying object made of metal that took the shape of a wheel. Inside were four living creatures that looked like humans. Many people believe the Bible to be the literal word of God; it should be especially hard for those people to ignore this evidence. It is the Gospel after all. Many may have a hard time taking the theories of Däniken seriously, but even respected astrophysicist Carl Sagan believed that we should seriously consider the possibility that extraterrestrial contact occurred in the past, so we should not completely dismiss this idea.

HERO : Ali Larter expecting a child with Hayes MacArthur

The 34-year-old actress is "thrilled" to be expecting her first child with hubby Hayes MacArthur this winter, Larter's rep confirmed. Larter is best known for her role as Tracy Strauss in the NBC’s drama series Heroes. She was discovered at the age of 13 in Cherry Hills New Jersey. Prior to finishing high school, she signed a modeling contract. After Larter got to know Amy Smart, model and actress who became her new best friend, Smart encouraged Larter to pursue acting. Larter made guest appearances in shows like Dawson’s Creek and Suddenly Susan in 1998.

After a breakthrough debut of her cheerleader role in the 1999 film Varsity Blues with James Van Der Beek and Amy Smart, Larter became more prominent on the screen and began her acting career in film. Some of Larter’s first films include House on Haunted Hill and then Final Destination.

Larter and MacArthur met on the set of the 2007 comedy “Homo Erectus” they shot together with producer Adam Rifkin. Larter told Cosmopolitan later that year after shooting Resident Evil: Extinction: “I told my boyfriend after

TOP 10 UFO Signtings released by Ministry of Defense

A list of 10 of the most famous UFO incidents in history and how the authorities explained them.

1. 1947 Roswell crash: UFO proponents claimed that the US military had captured a crashed alien aircraft. This well-publicised, controversial incident became a pop culture phenomenon.

Explanation: the US military maintained that it had recovered debris from an experimental high-altitude surveillance balloon belonging to a classified programme named “Mogul”.

2. 1947 Kenneth Arnold case: the press coined the term “flying saucer” after this American businessman and pilot claimed he had seen nine objects flying in a chain near Mount Rainier, Washington. Arnold described them as saucers skipping across water.

Explanation: The US Air Force formally listed the case as a mirage.

3. 1952 Washington, D.C. flap: this series of UFO reports was accompanied by radar contacts at three separate airports. Country-wide headlines spurred the formation of the CIA Robertson Panel.

Explanation: the US Air Force suggested that a temperature inversion - in which a layer of warm, moist air covered a layer of cool, dry air closer to the ground - had caused radar signals to bend and give false returns.

4. 1957 Levelland case: police investigated numerous motorist reports of engines stalling when encountering a glowing, egg-shaped object. Motorists claimed that their vehicles had restarted after the "object" had left.
Explanation: an air force investigation concluded that an electrical storm had caused the sightings and vehicle failures.

5. 1966 Westall encounter: more than 200 students and teachers at two schools in Melbourne allegedly saw a UFO that descended into a grass field. The object then ascended over a local suburb, according to reports. Witnesses still gather for reunions.

Explanation: Australian Skeptics, a non-profit organisation which investigates paranormal and pseudo-scientific claims by using scientific methodologies, believed that the object was an experimental military aircraft.

6. 1967 Shag Harbour crash: a large object crashed into Shag Harbour, Nova Scotia.

Explanation: The Canadian Department of National Defence officially classified this sighting as unsolved following a naval search and investigation. The Condon Committee, which investigated UFOs at the University of Colorado, failed to resolve the case.

7. 1976 Tehran incident: A UFO was believed to have disabled the electronic equipment of two F-4 interceptor aircraft as well as ground control equipment. The Iranian generals involved said on public record that they had thought the object was extraterrestrial.

Explanation: UFOs: The Public Deceived, a book by Philip Klass, claimed that witnesses saw an astronomical body - probably Jupiter - and pilot incompetence and equipment malfunction accounted for the rest.

8. 1986 São Paulo chase: around 20 UFOs were seen and detected by radar in various parts of Brazil. They reportedly disappeared as five military aircraft were sent to intercept them.

Explanation: Geoffrey Perry, a British space researcher, attributed the incident to debris that were ejected by Soviet space station Salyut-7 and re-entered Earth’s atmosphere around central-western Brazil.

9. 1989/1990 Belgium wave: around 13,500 people claimed to have witnessed large, silent, low-flying black triangles. Around 2,600 filed written statements describing what they had seen. The frequently-photographed wave was tracked by NATO radar and jet interceptors and investigated by Belgium’s military.

Explanation: Renaud Leclet, a French ufologist, believed some of the sightings could have been explained by helicopters.

10. 2008 Turkey video: a night guard at the Yeni Kent Compound claimed he had videotaped multiple UFOs over a period of four months. Reported witness confirmations spurred claims by Sirius UFO Space Science Research Center it was the "most important images of a UFO ever filmed".

Explanation: Turkish scientists claimed it was a computer-animated hoax.

Carrie Underwood in Bikini kisses Mike Underwood

The Bachelorette are at Tahiti, Le Taha’a Resort and Spa on the tiny beautiful island of Taha’a known as the Vanilla Island. Now every one is searching for where is tahiti, tahiti vacations & resorts and tahiti map. Thanks to Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher, who are at tahiti vacations & resorts for honeymoon.

In newly-released snapshots from Monday, singer Underwood, 27, showed off her impressive beach bod in a lacey red bikini, as she relaxed with hockey star Fisher, 30, on the deck of their suite overlooking the water. The newly minted spouses clinched their love with an intense smooch. iPhone Band Aid as Bump protector

For all iPhone 4 owners who are still unsatisfied with Apple’s recent decision to hand out free bumper cases, and duct tape really isn't your thing, there's a cheap alternative to solving the antenna problem: Antenn-Aids.

The custom designed band-aids for the iPhone 4 smartphone (really vinyl stickers) are now selling for $4.99 a pack. There are 6 Antenn-aids in each pack and each one is a different color.

The band-aid for the iPhone 4 is designed to cover the lower left corner of the phone where, if the phone is gripped, we have come to expect a significant drop in reception.

But the Antenn-aid offers no guarantees: “Antenn-aid is for entertainment purposes only, results may vary,” reads the official site of the product, Antenn-aid.com. Legal considerations aside, the plastic product is expected to have the same effect on the iPhone 4 as any thin non-conductive covering such as duct or electrical tape.

Overall, the concept is curious its own a nerdy sort of way, and certainly is eye catching. Antenn-aids could possibly attract the attention of odd collectors, Apple fans and curious online shoppers, especially those looking for a quirky gift.(source: Theepochtimes)

California Auction House and Lucille Ball’s Daughter Lucie Arnaz Luckinbill reached Agreement

Lucille Ball memorabilia is being split up, according to reports. Love letters between Lucille Ball and her second husband will go up for auction while lifetime achievement awards will go to daughter.

An auction house selling Lucille Ball memorabilia says it is returning the actress's lifetime achievement awards to her daughter. Heritage Auction Galleries says a deal reached Saturday will return the awards to Lucie Arnaz Luckinbill, Ball's daughter with first husband Desi Arnaz. A sale of dozens of other Ball-related memorabilia will happen Saturday. Items up for bid include a Rolls Royce and love letters to her second husband, Gary Morton. The deal announced Saturday ends a legal fight between Luckinbill and Susie Morton, who married Gary Morton after Ball's death in 1989. A judge agreed to stop the auction Friday but imposed a high bond Luckinbill couldn't meet. She has said the awards will be displayed in a museum honoring her mother.

WESLEY SNIPES Sentenced 3 years in prison for TAX evasion

Wesley Snipes Loses Appeal: Wesley Snipes will serve jail time for tax evasion. The actor lost an appeal that would have overturned an earlier sentence, and will instead be forced to spend time in prison. In 2008, The “Blade” actor was sentenced to three years in jail after he “willfully” failed to file taxes for six years. Snipes was convicted for failing to file tax returns in 1999, 2000, and 2001. He made more than $37 million between 1999 and 2004, partially due to his starring role in the highly-successful Blade trilogy. The court said that he did not file federal income tax returns for any those years.

The 47-year-old Money Train actor has been on bail since 2008, and called the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta's denial of his appeal “unreasonable,” reported BBC. The more serious charges of conspiracy and fraud were cleared.

Snipes' lawyers argued that he should have had a hearing as to where his trial should be held and claimed that having his trial held in Ocala, Fla. was a “discriminatory” move. Snipes and his team of lawyers said that the trial should be held in New York, where the actor was born. Snipes appealed the decision, claiming that his sentence was “unreasonable.” Attorneys for the star also argued that he was denied a hearing to determine whether his trial should have been conducted in New York rather than Florida (where it wound up).

Mona Lisa Secret REVEALED by X-ray Fluorescence Spectroscopy

Fluorescence spectroscopy aka fluorometry or spectrofluorometry, is a type of electromagnetic spectroscopy which analyzes florescence  from a sample. It involves using a beam of light, usually ultraviolet light, that excites the electrons in molecules of certain compounds and causes them to emit light of a lower energy, typically, but not necessarily, visible light. A complementary technique is absorption spectroscopy.

French researchers studied seven of the Louvre Museum's Leonardo da Vinci paintings, including the "Mona Lisa," to analyze the master's use of successive ultra-thin layers of paint and glaze — a technique that gave his works their dreamy quality. Scientists have discovered that Da Vinci used a well known renaissance painting technique known as sfumato. For the non art historians among us, Sfumato is the mixing of thin layers of pigment, glaze and oil to create lifelike shadows. The difference with Da Vinci was just how intricate his layers were. Apparently, Da Vinci used 30 layers of paint that amazingly only added 40 micrometres of paint – that’s half the width of a human hair.

LATEST UPDATE : UFO sighting in China and Original video Footage

A second China UFO sighting has residents on edge, just seven days after an unidentified flying object shut down a Chinese airport. The new UFO sighting took place in Chongqing in eastern China on July 15. Witnesses told Shanghai Daily they saw the same thing: "four lantern-like objects forming a diamond shape that hovered over the city's Shaping Park for over an hour."
Like the one before it, there has been no official explanation to date for this latest incident. Last week, flights were diverted in Hangzhou -- also in eastern China -- after a mysterious object was seen hovering in the sky, People's Daily reports. State-run Xinhua News Agency quoted a head of air traffic control as saying, "No conclusion has yet been drawn" about the UFO by the airport. China Daily reported that a source with knowledge of the matter said there was a military link but made no further comment. UFO sightings in China are not as common as some places, and there have been only a handful of well-publicized incidents in the last several decades.

18th Century Ship found at World Trade Center excavation

A 32-foot piece of the vessel was discovered in soil 20 feet under street level, amid noisy bulldozers excavating a parking garage for the future World Trade Center. Near the site of so many grim finds — Sept. 11 victims’ remains, twisted steel. The ship was buried as junk two centuries ago — landfill to expand a bustling little island of commerce called Manhattan. When it re-emerged this week, surrounded by skyscrapers, it was an instant treasure that popped up from the mud near Ground Zero.
Historians say the ship, believed to date to the 1700s, was defunct by the time it was used around 1810 to extend the shores of lower Manhattan.

"A ship is the summit of what you might find under the World Trade Center — it's exciting!" said Molly McDonald, an archaeologist who first spotted two pieces of hewn, curved timber — part of the frame of the ship — peeking out of the muddy soil at dawn on Tuesday.

By Thursday, she and three colleagues had dug up the hull from a muddy pit where parts of the new trade center are being built. A steep, hanging ladder trembled with each step down into chaotic mounds of dirt, dwarfed all around by Manhattan skyscrapers rising into the July sun. People sank in the mud as they walked and grasped pieces of the historic wood for support — touching the centuries-old ship that may once have sailed the Caribbean, according to marine historian Norman Brower, who examined it Thursday.

The vessel’s age will be estimated after the two pieces that first popped up are tested in a laboratory through dendrochronology — the science of using tree rings to determine dates and chronological order. Also unknown is what kind of wood was used to build the ship. A 100-pound iron anchor was found a few yards from the hull, possibly from the old vessel. There were also traces of human life nearby — “pieces of shoes all over,” said McDonald, who had no idea how they got there. The ship likely got there because of the effort to extend lower Manhattan into the Hudson River in the 1700s and 1800s using landfill. Cribbing usually consisted of logs joined together — much like a log cabin — but a derelict ship was occasionally used. The ship discovered Tuesday was weighted down and sunk to the bottom of the river, as support for new city piers in a part of Manhattan tied to global commerce and trade. A similar find emerged a walk away in 1982, when archaeologists found an 18th-century cargo ship on Water Street.

Christopher R. Morgan: SEX with 10 year old Girl

Christopher R. Morgan came up from Virginia Beach for what he thought would be sex with a 10-year-old girl.

Morgan, a medical records billing clerk, "was using the Internet to make arrangements with an adult female for the purpose of meeting and engaging in sexual acts with her presumed 10-year-old daughter," said Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli. "Among these acts was sexual intercourse with the child."
What Morgan didn't know, the prosecutor said, was that he was communicating with an undercover detective with Molinelli's computer crimes unit. "He arrived from Virginia Beach at a prearranged meeting location in Bergen County [Upper Saddle River] and was arrested without incident," the prosecutor said. Charges included attempted aggravated sexual assault, endangerment and luring. Morgan, who is single, was being held on $250,000 bail pending a court hearing Tuesday afternoon in Hackensack.
